On March 19, 2003 the United States declared war on Iraq, and discussions about the middle east intensified. War protests in Iowa City began in earnest. HDJunk, a mailing list normally used for messgaes about work schedules and drinking, produced something worthwhile for a change. |
| Nick Summy started the debate with an mp3 of a radio talk show, but soon more established Junkers were at arms about war protesting. The debate got personal at times but produced some incredibly insightful posts. We discussed chemical weapons and the statistics and media surrounding the war. When it was all over we went back to talking about beer and parties, but for a while we contributed to society by discussing the war. |
